Eldiablo

Eldiablo, whose real name is Boris Dolivet, is a multi-talented artist. He is a scriptwriter, cartoonist, illustrator, filmmaker and painter. Born in 1971, he started as a graffiti artist in the late 1980s and early 1990s in a group called the PCP (Petits cons de Peintres). With this background and many juicy anecdotes, he quickly turned to comics. He began to recount his adventures as a young Parisian suburbanite in the magazine Psikopat. Today he is regarded as the founder of hip-hop comics in France.

ELDIABLO graduated from Gobelins, a renowned art school in France, and started working on various projects. He co-wrote and directed the animated series Lascars, which aired between 2000 and 2008. The series was later adapted into a successful feature film. ELDIABLO also co-wrote the web series Les Kassos, which aired between 2013 and 2016.

In addition to his work in animation, ELDIABLO has written several comic books. He collaborated with the artist Cha on the award-winning comic book Pizza Roadtrip, which won the Youth Comic Book Award at the Angoulême International Comics Festival in 2013. In the comic book Wesh Caribou, released in 2018, he humorously recounts his adventures as an immigrant in Quebec.

ELDIABLO’s work is a unique hybrid of cinema, comics and painting. He is known for his humorous storytelling and ability to incorporate street culture into his art. He has produced music videos, short films and he even mounted an exhibition titled “Immortal Street Culture”, in which he creates plastic works that he hopes will be discovered by archaeologists in the future. He is also the creator of a series of Montreal-themed paintings and the “Urbanukshuk,” a plastic structure inspired by Inuit stone cairns but made of orange cones, considered by some as “the ultimate symbol of Montreal.” It was exhibited in 2017 during Montreal’s “Mural” Public Art Festival.

ELDIABLO is a versatile artist who is constantly evolving in his work. Starting as a graffiti artist, he became a comic book writer. He then worked on several animation projects, including creating jingles for MTV, before becoming an animator and graphic designer on the video game Rayman for Ubisoft. He also explores the world of painting. His work reflects his hip-hop background and desire to create something that will last for generations.
